Trekking in Garhwal HImalayas
The beauty of Garhwal hills is picture perfect, a fusion of high mountain valley and lakes of many streams and among India's greatest rivers. Comprising the districts of the Garhwal hills are a veritable paradise for trekkers. Nature is in her element here, and trekking trails are renowned for the great beauty of their views, stunningly different at almost every turn. But there is plenty of interest here for the amateur trekker too. For those interested in the fusion of art & culture with religion, the popular temple pilgrimage and hilltop temples provide sufficient material for the rewarding journey. Botanist can spend months studying the vast treasure - house of plants here. The birds of the Garhwal Himalaya, and their profusion, will captivate bird-watchers. And for photographers, professional or amateur, the canvas of mountain scenery and village homes will provide a wealth of material . Nor is trekking in the Garhwal hills expensive, for one can stay at any of a number of rest houses, travelers lodges or dharamshalas at a nominal cost.
Best Season
Trekking routes remain open from April to October, though the best period is considered to extend from April to June, and from mid-September to November. Now a days winter trekking is also getting famous day by day as people got lot of snow in these day in low altitude and the himalayan meadows gives a different perspective during winter.
Auden's Col Trek - 16 Days (Strenuous)
Auden’s col is discovered by J.B.Auden, a British Geographical Survey officer in the year of 1939 as a passage connecting Bhilangana Valley and Rudgaira valley. Every year the pass is crossed by adventurous trekkers and some of the trekkers reach to Kedarnath from Gangotri via this route.

Kalindi Khal is one of the most challenging treks in the Garhwal Himalayas. The trek starts from Gangotri and goes through Nandavan, the base of the Bhagirathi peaks, a place that offers an unparallel view of the Shivling peak. The trail moves on to Vasukital (4900 M).  Sweta Glacier and begin the challenging crossing of the Kalindikhal, Arwatal and to Mana.

Manani Valley is one of the finest bugyal of Garhwal Himalayas. The trek provides great range of Himalayan peaks. Trekkers goes via Manani bugyals, Simtoli bugyals, Kham pass and reached kedarnath after crossing Hathini Pass. The whole things make this trek picturesque, adventurous and pilgrimage. Vasuki Tal Painyya Tal Trek - 07 Days (Moderate to Strenuous)
Vasuki tal is an enchanting lake approached from a steep climb of 14 kms from Kedarnath. The trek from Kedarnath to Vasuki Tal is a continous Ascent along a goat track and it offers a panoramic view Of Chaukhamba peaks. The final trek to Vasuki Tal is Downhill for 1 km. At the bottom of this, one can see Rectangular slabs of rocks.

Khatling Glacier Trek - 11 Days (Strenuous)
This lateral glacier situtated in Tehri district is the source of river Bhilangna. The glacier is surrounded by snow peaks of the Jogin group (6466 m), Sphetic Pristwar (6905 m), Barte Kauter (6579 m), Kirti Stambh (6902 m) and Meru. The moraines on the side of the glaciers look like standing walls of gravel mud.

Sahastra Tal Trek - 10 Days (Strenuous)
Sahastra Tal is situated near the border of Uttarkashi & Tehri District of Garhwal. There are a numbers of Tals in this region, therefore the region is named Sahastra Tal. The Tals are around 3 km. further from Kyarki Bugyal, a beautiful natural carpet of grass. On the second Route, after trekking a bit from Titrana, another popular Tal "RaksriTal" lies. Continuing same route, we can also visit Mall Maheswar and Tall Maheshwar on the way.

 Kagbhusandi Tal Trek - 08 Days (Strenuous)
This is a small oblong lake with emerald green water. It is at an altitude of 5230 mts., near Kankul Pass(5230 mts.), and is almost a kilometer in length. Myriad blossoms decorate its banks during the season, a wildest profusion of colours make the trekker forget the hardships and the exhaustion of the trek. Set in the lap of Hathi Parvat (6730 mts.), the lake can be approached either from Bhiundhar village, near Ghangria, or from Vishnu Prayag.

Roopkund Trek - 09 Days (Strenuous)
This high altitude (5029 m) glacial lake falls on the Nanda Jat route to Homkund. It is not a very large lake, only 200m in circumference, with a catchments area of nearly 2 sq km. The lake is rather shallow having a depth of 2m. The edges are snow covered for most part of the year. When snow melts, one can see human and equine skeletal remains, sometimes with flesh attached; well preserved in the alpine conditions, because of this it's called skeleton Lake.

Gaumukh Nandanvan Tapovan Trek - 08 Days (Strenuous)
The trek starts at Gangotri with a pleasant undulating 14 kms walk to Bhojbasa, for an overnight halt. The next day involves a short 4 kms trek to Gaumukh sources of the holy Ganga, and a 6 kms hike to Nandanvan over boulders and morraine. Tents may be pitched near a beautiful crystal clear stream here. The view of various Himalayn peaks, particularly Shivling is fabulous.

Valley of Flower - Hemkund Trek - 06 Days (Moderate to Strenuous)
The best time to visit the valley is during the monsoons in July and August when innumerable varieties of flowers bloom and present a spectacular sight. The valley itself is 10 km long and 2 km wide in a conical shape, with the river Pusphavati flowing through it. The valley ranges between 3358m in altitude.There is an adventurous route from Ghangria, a steeper one, leads to the high- altitude Lokpal lake, known as Hemkund (4329m) is about 4-6 hours.

Panwali Kantha Trek - 06 Days (Moderate)

Madmaheshwar Trek - 07 Days (Moderate)
The temple at an altitude of 3289m is located on the slope of a ridge 29 kms northeast of Guptkashi. The trek starts from Uniana. The temple here contains a superb Har-Gouri statue. The trek further takes one to Ransi, which has a very old temple, low and built of stones entirely. Gaundar at the confluence of Madhmaheshwar Ganga & Markanda Ganga is the Madhmahesher temple and its associated dharamshala.

 Devaria Tal Tungnath Chandrashila Trek - 05 Days (Moderate)
The arms of Lord Shiva came out as per the Kedarnath myth, at Tungnath. He is worshiped here as one of the Panch Kedars. Tungnath temple is the highest Shiva shrine amongst the Panch Kedars but the easiest to reach from the nearest road head. It is sited at an altitude of 3680m and usually pilgrims get down at Choptachatti on Ukhimath- Gopeshwar motor road.
