Devaria Tal - Tungnath - Chandrashila Trek

Devaria Tal,  Tungnath & Chandrashila trek is moderate trek in summer but approaching to the Tungnath is the most adventurous in winter. The maximum height is approx. 3750 mts. in the whole trek. Trek starts from Ukhimath to Devaria and then follows to Tungnath. A sparkling lake (Devaria Tal) surrounded by dense forests. The famous Himalayan trouts are found in abundance in the lake. Here is a dazzling body of water in the midst of an extremely dense forest of oak, pine, and deodar. Fed by natural springs in its depths. It provides an idyllic retreat for rest and recreational activities. The arms of Lord Shiva came out as per the Kedarnath myth, at Tungnath. He is worshiped here as one of the Panch Kedars. Tungnath temple is the highest Shiva shrine amongst the Panch Kedars but the easiest to reach from the nearest road head. It is sited at an altitude of 3680m and usually pilgrims get down at Choptachatti on Ukhimath- Gopeshwar motor road.
Chopta is famous for its mountain views. One can trek up to Tungnath either by the steeper 3.4 kms route or the other 5 kms long Pangarbasa chatti near Chopta chatti is also noted for its grand peak views The enterprising one can climb the chandrashila peak from Tungnath as it is in the same feature and can be reached in about an hour's time The peak provides a rare panoramic view of innumerable snow peak. The trek passes through forests of Rhododendron and alpine meadows. If heading towards Ukhimath one should not miss Deoriatal, now jeepable from Mastura. It is a small deep lake at an altitude of 2440m. In early morning, the snowy ranges including Chaukhamba and Kedarnath is clearly reflected on the water; an unforgettable sight.

Trekking Itinerary
Day 1:
Rishikesh - Ukhimath
Drive to Ukhimath 180 kms with hot lunch en route. Dinner & overnight in Ukhimath.
Day 2:
Ukhimath - Deoriyatal 
Approx 15 kms drive to Village Sari & 3 km. trek to Deoriyatal. Night Stay in Camp.
Day 3:
Devaria Tal - Sari - Chopta
Approx. 3 km. trek and 20 km. drive to chopta. Night stay in Hotel.
Day 4:
Chopta - Tungnath Chandrashila - Chopta
5 kms trek to Chandrashila via Tungnath. Return trek to Chopta. Dinner & overnight in Chopta.
Day 5:
Chopta - Rishikesh
Approx. 250 km. drive to Rishikesh.
Required Trekking Gear
